Becky Chase Band

  • Pump House Music Works 1464 Kingstown Road South Kingstown, RI, 02879 United States (map)

The Becky Chace Band has been making music for a couple decades all over New England. They play a bluesy mix of both covers and originals, often referring to themselves as a "blues/roots band with a little twang." They pick cover songs from artists like Bonnie Raitt, Ray Charles, and Aretha Franklin to blend with their style and have created a memorable musical act for festival audiences. You might even hear them bust into a Led Zeppelin tune from time to time. The band has the versatility, experience, and professionalism to ensure that audiences notice them. They are five very talented musicians with standout vocals and great energy. Drawing on a song list that is always growing and appeals to all ages, they're always reading the crowd and trying to engage as many people as possible.

Roots rocker Becky Chace will knock you over with her voice and her longtime sidekick Brian Minisce will help you get back up and stand at attention. Their vast catalog of original music is authentic, eclectic, and honest. Becky covers artists as diverse as Irving Berlin, Johnny Cash, and Men at Work. As long as the song is great, it doesn’t matter if she wrote it herself or someone else did 100 years ago, they’ll perform anything that moves them with groove, sensitivity, and passion.

The Providence Journal's Bob Kerr said, "Chace sings in a rich, seasoned voice that has a little country catch in it that underscores the hard times and the good times in her songs. Lucinda Williams is her favorite singer."

Of her latest release Rise and Fall, Chris Conti of the Providence Phoenix said, "Fifteen years and 10 albums on, Becky Chace continues her steady ascension as one of Rhode Island's most revered singer-songwriters behind a fantastic new album."

Becky Chace believes in the power of music. Whether she’s playing her original songs with Brian as an acoustic duo, fronting her band The Beck Chace Band, or sharing the stage with acts like The Jammin Divas and Forever Young, she is present in the moment enjoying the connection of community that only music can create.

Becky’s been performing over 150 shows per year since she began promoting her first release in 1998 with Brian Minisce and her band. She’s tough to pin down in terms of style; she’s that kind of musician who can’t help but go in different directions. A throwback to the artists of the 1960s and 70s who had intimate acoustic country ballads on the same records with blues rock and pop, The Worcester Telegram recently called her a “...steamy cauldron of music, purveying the sort of countrified roots/folk rock that hits with a gritty, earthy edge.”

Becky’s performance experience runs the gamut as well. With her band she’s opened concert and festival shows for such acts as B.B. King, America, Keb Mo, Melissa Etheridge and Joan Jett at the Newport Sunset Music Festival and Twin River Casino. She’s shared more intimate stages such as the Narrows Center for the Arts and Stone Soup as an acoustic act with the likes of Judi Collins and Cheryl Wheeler.

Receiving critical acclaim for her recordings, Becky’s proven to be a very prolific songwriter releasing 9 CDs. The Boston Globe called Chace’s Take Your Shot “a stunning collection of original roots rock, folk, and blues."

"Becky leaves herself open in her music in many respects, and that intimacy creates the potential for genuine human connection." - Jim Vickers, Motif

What people talk about most when it comes to Becky’s music is her powerful voice. She’s been compared to Melissa Etheridge, Lucinda Williams, and Bonnie Raiit. Chosen Best Female Vocalist 5 times by the readers of the Providence Phoenix Best Music Poll, Becky has been called "one of the most celebrated singer/songwriters to come out of the RI area." Motif Magazine

Currently performing as a duo with Brian, a trio when Brian’s brother Mark Minisce joins on bass, and with her full band with Eric Hastings on drums, Becky can be found most weekends in New England playing concerts in every kind of venue imaginable from clubs to outdoor festivals to house concerts and parties with her eclectic mix of originals and covers. She also performs with 7 of RI’s finest musicians in a tribute to the music of Neil Young with Forever Young.
